Lisa at Joyful Chaos is hosting Thankful Thursdays this month. Unfortunately I missed the deadline for sending in my list, not because I was ungrateful last night, but because my list consisted of the following mental conversation with God at about 10 PM:
- Dear God, I am really, really thankful it is finally bedtime.
- Dear God, I am really, really thankful that the babies went to sleep at the same time because Andy isn't coming home until 11 PM.
- Dear God, I am really, really thankful for this dark, quiet space where I can lie in bed with three of my boys and listen to the rain and...
And then I fell asleep.
But I really was grateful for more than a bed yesterday. I was grateful when my husband got home from his business trip safe and sound at 11:15 PM. I was grateful for a friend we are in the process of getting to know, who invited us to her home today when there was a misunderstanding and I couldn't find the art classes that were supposed to be held for the kids yesterday afternoon, and I drove everyone forty-five minutes in the rain for nothing. I was grateful for the brief, sweet period when Gareth decided that to make up for kicking Farmerboy he would play construction trucks with him on the floor in the laundry room. I was very happy to find Melanie's blog and the pictures of her beautiful twin boys. And I was insanely grateful for all the women at the 4Real boards, whose discussions are always carried on with wisdom and grace.
That is wonderful. I thank God for bedtime every single night and I don't even have twins babies.

Oh, how I can relate! Bedtime when Daddy's away on business is truly purgatorial...
All's well that ends well, though! I'm happy to read that your husband made it home safe & sound and that your children lived to see it. ;)

Angela, thank you for that :-) I love how you have 3 + 2 just like me, and I was praying similar prayers last night too. Wishing you restful sleep.

Great list! My bedtime prayers are always cut short like that. :)

"To sleep, perchance to dream." There are those days when you just can't wait for everyone to go so sleep...you daydream about your next time in bed.
Lovely list, Angel. You really inspire me.

It's a great list! I can't think of a better way to thank God than to drift peacefully off, knowing He's with you. :-)
