Woohoo! I'm so excited to hear about how your choice time works. Maybe it will bring me a step closer to actually implementing something like it in my home! Your oldest sounds alot like mine in terms of extreme frustration, and I know I started with montessori with the same expectation that it would be a magic bullet. Thanks for sharing your history.

I thought the "choice time" idea sounded neat but I always have difficulty in picturing how to set it up. So this post is very helpful in seeing how it can evolve from a family's needs and circumstances. I am looking forward to reading more about it when you get to the "nitty-gritty".

Great post Angela! We have thoroughly enjoyed our choice time with many detours, it is a nice peg during the morning but not ground in stone! I love your parameters :)

I think what you are doing is wonderful and your children are so lucky to have a mom so insightful! We tried public school and then private Prep school but it wasn't until we discovered Montessori that we realized why we were so unhappy everywhere else! Looking forward to reading more of your experiences. http://fitzfamilynet.googlepages.com/whywelovemontessori
